POP and IMAP Configuration

To retrieve your messages, the email software uses the POP or IMPA protocol to connect to your mailbox.

For all the settings of your Mails customers, Monaco Telecom recommends to use the IMAP protocol with secure SSL / TLS on port 993 for the reception of your e-mails and the SSL protocol Secure with password in TLS / SSL port 587 for sending your e-mail.

POP protocol

  • What is POP protocol?

It copies new messages from the mail server to your computer hard disk, and erases them automatically from the server.

Note: On your email software, you can define the number of days messages will remain on the server after being read before they are deleted.

  • When to use POP protocol

You access your messages from one computer or a smartphone.
Note: The POP protocol is not recommended if you want to access your messages from several devices. Messages read on computer A, for instance, will no longer be present on the server and therefore will not be downloaded on computer B.

  • How to set up POP protocol?

Enter the following settings when invited by the mail client.

POP server: pop.monaco.mc
Port: 110 (not secured, no SSL)
User name: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Password: Your password

IMAP protocol

  • What is IMAP protocol?

The IMAP protocol synchronizes all your email software with the emails present on the server.
You can access all of your messages from any device.

Note: Contrary to the POP protocol, IMAP synchronizes all the email software connected to your mailbox. Therefore you receive the same messages on all your email applications.

  • When to use IMAP protocol

You access your messages from several devices.

  • How to set up IMPA protocol?

Enter the following settings when invited by the mail client.

IMAP server: mail.monaco.mc
Port: 143 (not secured, no SSL)
Username: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
